This course has been designed to prepare health care professionals to perform and write Activities of Daily Living Assessments for people working with Motor Vehicle Accident files. In addition to the extensive hands on portion, details of how these assessments function within the current legislation on both the insurance and legal side will be provided. Julie graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Studies and Gerontology, from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Health Science Degree in Occupational Therapy, and is currently completing her MBA part-time through Wilfred Laurier University. Julie previously worked as an Occupational Therapy Manager before starting her own business in 2005. Julie continues to provide occupational therapy services privately and her skills are utilized by insurers, case managers and lawyers alike in the auto and disability insurance systems. Julie continues to be engaged in professional development and attends courses and conferences on Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and Insurance Reform. Julie is trained in both the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) and in completing Analysis of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) assessments. Julie continues to complete presentations to insurers, lawyers, students, and colleagues on the role of occupational therapy in the auto insurance industry, on the Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule (SABS), on legislative changes, and on the assessment and treatment of individuals who have sustained injury following a motor vehicle accident. Julie continues to guest lecture and volunteer at Chronic Pain Support Groups and for Charitable Conferences. She is an activeparent to four daughters, volunteers in her community, and enjoys volleyball, golf, scuba diving, travel and martial arts.
