Working with the SABS

viivinov

The new Statutory Accident Benefit Schedule (SABS) will apply to accidents that o

ccur on or after September 1, 2010.

Viivi Riis BScPT, MSc is a physical therapist with extensive experience in the auto in

surance health sector. Her company, Health Service Management, consults with the insurance industry and health businesses to facilitate better working relationships that can support recovery of the injured person rather than promoting dispute and misunderstanding. Title of her session: Auto Insurance: It's time for a new paradigm! Viivi will discuss strategies to assist health businesses return to a health care model and move away from the adversarial busines

s model that is so prevalent in Ontario. Each insurance company may establish its own business practices while market conduct of all insurers is uniformly governed by the SABS. Learn how to work with insurers to build their competitive edge and your own while remaining compliant with the SABS. If all parties can collaborate and cooperate toward the same goal (recovery of the injured person), your business can enjoy the elusive "win-win-win" scenario. The half day session is interactive with case studies, reflection and plenty of opportunities for questions and communication exercises. Working with the SABS is so complex that the average health business doesn’t have time to grasp all of the nuances. This seminar will offer  insights into the SABS claim procedures so health businesses can enjoy a more successful (and calmer) auto insurance business.

Kevin Cairns, President Metriks Education, will speak the changes to the SABS. Kevin’s presentation will highlight the changes to the SABS that will affect the OCF-18 Treatment and Assessment Plan. Kevin will discuss how assessments are changing with the introduction of the Minor Injury Guideline. The seminar will go beyond listing the changes, it will provide examples and scenarios of how businesses are operating within the new SABS. The presentation will identify the business models and strategies that have been adopted to work with the new SABS.
