The traditional home of the Functional Ability Evaluation (FAE) or Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is at the end of rehabilitation once the client reaches Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI).
In addition, an FCE can be performed near the beginning of the rehabilitation flow to help prepare a treatment plan. An FCE is also used as part of a disability determination either to establish that a client has a disability or to determine is the client continues to be disabled.
